For more than 25 years, Simon has reported, anchored and produced breaking and developing international news stories for many of the world’s leading television and radio networks.
Simon is the President and Chief Correspondent of Feature Story News (FSN), the world’s leading independent broadcast news agency. Simon created the company in 1992 and today it operates news bureaus in 20 locations, including Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Orlando, Miami, Houston, Denver, London, Brussels, Berlin, Moscow, Kampala, Juba, Dar Es Salaam, Abuja and Caracas.
Simon is passionate about - and committed to - serious, engaging coverage of the most important news stories of our time. A committed globalist, his work building and developing FSN has been driven by a determination to help keep the global news agenda alive, and ensure that in-depth international coverage is available to both the largest network and the smallest station alike.
Simon's annual preview of the stories expected to make news over the next 12 months in the USA, for Channel NewsAsia's special December program.
As a correspondent, Simon travels the world on a continuing basis for the most respected news outlets on-the-air. He's interviewed many of the world's leading newsmakers, including Presidents and Prime Ministers. He's reported from the four corners of the globe, covering wars and revolutions, coups and elections, and specializing in thoughtful, in-depth reporting of the major international events of our time.
Simon's coverage of breaking news stories is a regular feature on many TV and radio networks worldwide, bringing historical context to every story that he covers:
Simon regularly anchors coverage of historic events, including live US Election Night coverage (see below).
Simon has anchored his own global affairs TV program, has reported for America's "PBS NewsHour" from datelines worldwide, and regularly hosts special coverage of breaking news events for audiences all over the world.
Interview with President Vladimir Putin, St. Petersburg, July 2001

Interview with President George W. Bush, The White House, July 3 2003
Simon has helped several news organizations overhaul their operations, train their staff in the implementation of integrated, platform-neutral production processes, and build audiences as a result. Simon is passionate about the need to make serious-minded coverage of global affairs available to audiences worldwide, and he was a pivotal member of the team that re-launched America’s PBS NewsHour on-air and on-line in December 2009.
Simon designed this fully-integrated digital newsroom for the PBS network in the USA. He trained staff in new production workflows, integrated on-air and online operations and significantly enhanced the organization's internal flexibility and cost-effectiveness.
Simon has also built his own company, Feature Story News, into one of the world's most widely-respected broadcast news organizations. Through the development of a highly-talented, 70-strong team and the careful deployment of new broadcast technologies, FSN is constantly redefining the role that a news agency can play in the global broadcast business.
